An Absolute MUST Read:  We Are on The Eve …
The election has passed and our country is in a full blown war within itself.  The decision regarding who will sit in what house or who will be able to effect legislation to guide and direct this country into the belly of the beast is …

Obama vs. GOP: 20-3. Folks, let’s talk about accomplishments in <24 months!
Excuse me, is it at all possible that what has happened in the past two or three weeks is actually good for the country?

“Don't Ask Don’'t Tell” (DADT) has been repealed.  How is that bad for us?  Everyone can now serve in the military without fear of discrimination.  Sounds like a win.

Supporting Black Business

“I have tried faithfully to support my people, but a lot of times they have no concept of customer service. Even though I easily could, I won’t name specific businesses, but I will say that I have encountered black businesses who forget that customer satisfaction and retention are key to their success and longevity.   More often than not I have been treated like a “stepchild ”, dealt with attitude, and been treated  as if the  business was doing me a favor by providing a service to me; a service that I am paying for.

I don’t want to give up on my people, but this lack of courtesy and respect is the same reason why I no longer knowingly shop at stores owned by Middle Easterners and Asians.  When I am spending my hard earned money, I deserve respect, If you won’t give it to me than I will simply move on.” — Name withheld

“THE EMPOWERMENT PROPOSAL”

I was sitting at a Chinese business recently and one of the shop’s workers came through sweeping with a unique-looking broom.  A patron asked from where the lady had gotten the broom and she said Chinatown.  No big deal, really … except we were on Hwy. 6 North near Hwy 290 (about 30miles away).  That’s a long way from Chinatown.  I play tennis twice a week with an Asian friend of mine and we were talking about getting our rackets re-strung.  I asked where he goes and he said, you guessed it, a shop in Chinatown.  There again, nothing strange about that answer. Except that he lives in Cinco Ranch.  Again, a good distance from Chinatown.  So, what’s the moral of this story?  These are two examples of what makes the Chinese-American community so strong.  They go out of their way to do business with …

BLACK WALL STREET … THEN:
Little Africa, Champion of the African American Entrepreneurial Spirit

In the 1900s Tulsa, Oklahoma was the land of milk and honey for north Tulsa African American residents. Jim Crow laws and segregation limited African Americans to the north side of town for transacting business and living accommodations.  As a result according to Reuben Gant, President of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, “Black folks found it necessary to create a city within a city.”  Over 300 African American businesses were developed for that purpose.  It became the most affluent African American neighborhood in the nation.

TIME TO KICK SOME SOCIO-ECONOMIC BUTT!

Rationale:
This is a capitalist country.  Money, or the power to affect money is key.  With money, you control politics.  When you control politics, you control the laws and policies that govern society in general.  Nothing else matters as much.  The reason Black people are treated as second-class human beings by America, is because we have no money, and so far, have not organized ourselves to affect the flow of money.  Any plan by Black people to achieve some modicum of power must have as its root money or a mechanism to affect the flow of money.

BIZZ BUZZ: When are African Americans Bad for Business?

The Ethicist by Randy Cohen, is a column in the New York Times Magazine from the Sunday edition of the New York Times. A question was presented to him about the ethical thing to do in this situation:

'I am a consultant on the redesign of the Web site of a company with local franchises across the United States. A franchise in San Diego mentioned that posting a generic picture of an African-American customer could deter potential business. He has never had an African-American client nor does he anticipate one. His clientele is 79 percent white, 29 percent Hispanic and 1 percent Asian. Each local office will have a Web page and could have it's own generic customer photo. May race be a factor in choosing it?'

For his Noble Words, Obama Deserves the Prize.
The negative reaction to the president's Nobel Peace Prize ignores history.

Within hours of Friday’s announcement that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, commentators and politicians all over the map were denouncing the award as “absurd”.  Under the terms of Alfred Nobel's will, the peace prize is awarded by five lawmakers selected from the Norwegian Storting, or parliament.  The committee’s current president is Norway’s former …

The Sad Truth Behind the Anti-Obama Facade

As I began reading an editorial by Charles Krauthammer several days ago, I was reminded of two other op-ed pieces I read in the past few months, one by Frank Richand one by Paul Krugman.

In the first two paragraphs of Krauthammer’s piece were references to President Obama as “the philosopher-king,” the President’s “lofty perception of himself”, and that he “sees himself as messianic”, as he …

Angry Mob Wants Their Country “BACK”

Republican Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina (where else?)seems to be emerging as the leading spokesman for the Angry White Mob assembled in Washington, D.C. Saturday.  DeMint said on Good Morning America about the rally, “it’s not about Obama, it’s not about the Democrats,”it’s just a group of people who are “here to take back their country.”

Not about the Democrats?  Take a look at the roster of past and present elected officials who spoke on …

“The Dynamic Diva” Dr. Elon Bomani:

Wealth of Health Care Reform

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, is trying to encourage Congress to
pass the Health Care Reform Bill.  But no matter if the bill passes or fails, you are still going to have to be the one to take care of your health.  Do not leave the future of your health Care in the governments hands alone.  President Obama correctly stated,"This issue affects the health and financial well-being of every single American."

Marketing On Social Networks — Inspiring a Sense of Trust

With over 67% of all Internet users in the United States using social networks, business owners are wise to
take notice and bring their brands online. I have taught many business owners how to leverage social networks like Facebook,Twitter and Linkedin to grow their businesses.  Inevitably, I always get the same question, “How do I inspire a sense of confidence in my company in people that have never met me or my employees?”
